Christmas is almost upon us and, as yet, we have not decided on the venue for our Christmas Dinner with husbands, partners or,in some cases ,friends....but watch this space.

On 28th October a few members will be going to Alston Hall for a day of Creative Writing. The Tutor is Jane England and we will all return full of renewed vigour and loads of ideas for our next Anthology


Our next 'ladies wot lunch' is planned for 26th September at 'The Comfortable Gill' at 12.00. All members are welcome.

17th September dawned..a beatiful day for a talk about Blackleach, a walk round the park and a chat about poetry and prose amongst friends. Wonderful!


'Poetry in the Park' which unfortunately had to be cancelled earlier in the year is now being arranged for the 17th September 2008, at Blckeach Country Park, Walkden
The day will begin at 10.00am with tea and biscuits, followed by a walk and talk through the park by one of the wardens.
After lunch we will gather to write about what we have seen on our travels before leaving about 3.30 pm.

After the reading of our own poetry and prose in the Central Library Manchester, which was an unqualified success we have been asked to do a reading for the Ladies Inner Wheel of Worsley on 9th Sptember. We are both delighted and honoured and hope this will be the first of many such readings

Sunday July 27th 2008 we supported Worsley Festival by manning a stall and allowing the public to purchase both our award winning anthologies. We had a good day with brilliant support from our members and the public bought our books!

On 4th July 2008 our 'ladies wot lunch' will be meeting at Astley Tea Rooms at 11.30 am..all members are welcome

Our new Chairperson, Eileen Pearce, took office on 30th June 2008 after a unanimous vote.
The vice-chair is Elizabeth Gough.
The Secretary is Gillian Forster
The Treasurer is Dorothy Worsley

6 May 2008: Members are looking forward to welcoming Almira Holmes back on 30 June and 7 July for another workshop.

30 April 2008: Another success! Four members represented the group at the David St John Thomas Awards in London to receive a 1st prize for their second anthology "Pot Hooks for Ladles".

12 April 2008: We regret that due to unforseen circumstances, it has been necessary to postpone Poetry in the Park, planned for 23rd April 2008 at Blackleach until the Autumn.

11 March 2008: More exciting news received today. Our latest anthology has again been short-listed for the David St John Thomas Writing Awards for 2008. The award ceremony will be held in London on 30th April - so keep everything crossed for "Pot Hooks for Ladles".

Two events for your 2008 diaries. Almira Mycroft will tutor 2 sessions for us on 4th and 11th February.

11 December 2007 : Christmas party was a great success at Marco Polo thanks to everyone who joined in and shared the evening. Have a great Christmas and a happy and successful New Year. Our next meeting will be Monday, 7th January.

Tuesday, 30 October 2007 - Members of the group will entertain at Manchester Central Library - in the Reception Room on the 2nd floor between 1:00 and 2:00 pm. DROP IN AND JOIN US!

8 Sept 07 - On Wednesday, 5 September, we held a launch evening for our second anthology "Pot Hooks for Ladles". The evening was a great success. The members had a good time, overcoming their nerves and giving short readings. To everyone who came along, we extend our thanks for your support and positive feedback.

Our thanks to Sheila Parker and her team from the Disability Arts Group for attending and sharing our evening. We are delighted to hear that the Group enjoyed their involvement in 'Pot Hooks for Ladles" and gained some positive benefits from the collaboration.

Thanks to Deidre Armes-Smith for opening the launch evening and for her encouraging comments on our publications.
