Our History
|
The Swinton & District Amateur Photographic Society was formed in February 1945.
We first met at the Blue Ribbon Hall on Pendlebury Road until about1950, then we moved to the Moorside Community Centre on Moorside Road, This was closed in June 2003 and we now use the Agnes Hopkins Memorial Hall on Clarendon Road Swinton.
Our first exhibition was in 1946 at Pendlebury Town Hall and was held annually there until the early seventies when we moved to the Memorial Hall at Swinton Library. It has been held there ever since, usually in April.
The official opening is on the Friday night and is normally performed by The Mayor of Salford .
It is open to the public during library hours.
Due to the possible closure of the Lancastrian Halls, the 2004 Exhibition will be held at Salford Art Gallery and Museum on the Crescent.
