I was born in 1970 in Salford and heard guitar music from the start! My Dad was a great Lonnie Donegan fan and played in most of the pubs in Salford at sometime or another.
It wasn’t until 1989 that a friend of mine lent me a copy of ‘Blonde On Blonde’ that I really got to listen to Dylan. Two weeks later I was messing around with my Dad’s guitar. In 1995 I started playing at Alec Martin’s Buskers Ball in Bolton and loved it! A few weeks after that I got together with John MacFadden and we started learning as many as we could of Dylan’s songs.
I try and play regularly at Pubs and folk clubs in the North West but I have recently become a father and find it hard to fit gigs into my nappy schedule!
Places I play on and off are The Weaste pub, The Hulton Arms, Swinton Folk club, Chorlton Folk club and of course the Salford Salutes Dylan nights.
I am a founder-member and co-organiser of Salford Salutes Dylan.
