Me? Hall of fame? The words of Wayne and Garth spring to mind; I`m not worthy!
I must confess that I was a bit daunted by the offer of the gig at the King’s Arms, day job commitments during the past few years have meant that live performances have been few and far between and when Dave called me to step in for the regular lead guitar I wasn’t what you might call ‘match fit’.

I needn’t have worried because Benny, Gaz & Dave are all accomplished players which made my job quite straightforward and I soon got back into the groove. After a couple of rehearsals we were sounding pretty sharp and the gig went without a hitch.

Playing the Dylan festival was a departure from the usual stuff I play and listen to, which made it all the more enjoyable. Having a brother ten years older than me had opened up a wide range of musical influences ; whilst my school mates were jumping around to the Sex Pistols , I was getting all serious to Weather Report & PFM!

In the my early gigging days I played drums for a while and then drifted in and out of guitar for years without really finding what I was looking for, recently I’ve been playing traditional rock stuff until a couple of weeks ago when I was introduced to Benny with a view to doing something for the SSD gig.

The rehearsals for the gig were pretty hurried; the various work commitments of the band meant that the first time we ever played all together was at the gig! I’m sure any muso’s in the audience will have picked that up!

It was a real privilege to play such a great selection of Dylan songs, not to mention, working with the band and meeting the audience who responded with such warmth and enthusiasm, I hope I get the opportunity to do it again.
