Making Greater Manchester safer is top of our agenda at Greater Manchester Police. We know that we can only do this by engaging and working with the people in our communities. Home Watch is an excellent example of that work is succeeding - and it is going from strength to strength. Since being introduced in Greater Manchester almost 20yrs ago,the scheme has made a huge contribution to reducing and detecting crime and taking criminals off the streets. We are committed to working in partnerships with Home Watch,Local Authorities and other agencies to make communities safer by fighting crime and the fear of crime.
The number of Home Watch schemes throughout the Force area is constantly increasing which is good news for those who live, work and visit Greater Manchester. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all Home Watch members and encourage you to continue with your good work in the future. Your enthusiasm and commitment is inspiring.

Communities working together with Police and other agencies can improve the quality of life for neighbourhoods and individuals, making our homes and streets safer.
Home Watch schemes make an invaluable contribution to reducing local crime -and just as importantly- the fear of crime. We have over 300 schemes and 6,500 members in Salford. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued enthusiasm and commitment to the Home Watch movement. Only by working together can we bring crime down.
