Your first teddy bear, your signed Salford Rugby or Man U shirt... what's your favourite thing?
French photographer Danyel Massacrier visited Salford Shopping City for a few days and asked local people to come down and have their picture taken with the things that are important to them. His work will then feature in an exhibition in May - one of a series of events that is being planned to celebrate Salford's 40 years of town-twinning with his home town of Clermont-Ferrand.
Danyel says: "I've never done a project like this before so it's very exciting.
I want to meet Salford people and share the experiences I'll have with them, with visitors to the exhibition. The pictures will be large so that visitors have the feeling that they are really in front of the people I photograph and could talk with them like I will have done.
He says Salford's come along way since his first visit 10 years ago when he was helping organise an exhibition at the university: "In 1995 Salford appeared to me to be a city which had seen better days, but I was really surprised when I made a return visit a few years ago.
With The Lowry and other developments at The Quays, it is now showing itself to be a modern city which is making its way."
Salford's official link with Clermont-Ferrand, capital of the Auvergne region, was created in May 1966. Salford has enjoyed an excellent relationship with its French counterpart over the last four decades, strengthened by exchange visits which have allowed young people to experience a culture different from their own.
Cllr Derek Antrobus, lead member for town twinning, says: "It's great to see that 40-years on Salford's town-twinning with Clermont-Ferrand is still going strong. This is a great opportunity for Salford people to play a part in the history and future of our city's link with the town.
I'll be looking forward to seeing what local people bring along. Hopefully it will give us an insight not only into what Salford residents hold dear, but also how they view their relationship with the city."
