Where is Narbonne ?
The beautiful town of Narbonne is traditionally a holiday town with lots of sun and is only a short drive away from the Mediterranean Sea and an 8km beach of golden sand. Narbonne, rich in heritage with an abundance of architecture and traditional festivals to attract visitors, was originally twinned with Eccles in 1957.

Narbonne is the oldest town in the south-west of France. Founded by the Romans in the second century BC, it became the capital of the whole of Southern Gaul. At the time it was a major port, although it now lies some 20 km from the sea.

The Twinning Group, chaired by Councillor David Lancaster, meets two monthly, usually on a Tuesday evening in Morrisons Supermarket's Training Room. The meetings are informal and start at 6.45pm and always finish by 8.00pm.

We are grateful for the support of Morrisons Supermarkets.

Our purpose is to assist local groups who want to develop links with Narbonne.

Councillor Lancaster said; "We can offer advice, contacts in France and knowledge gained from previous visits. In some cases we can also offer financial assistance for the right projects.

We are always looking for new members, so if you are interested in Narbonne, if you think you could help us or your organisation wants help with a twinning project, why not get in touch with us and come to a meeting."
