Michael Powell, Librarian at Chetham's Library, Long Millgate, Manchester, has been in touch to let us know that they have several books which may be of interest to anyone studying Little Hulton history.
He particularly mentioned A.6.107 - "Little Hulton, Manor of Worsley" by John Heaton Partington, an unpublished manuscript dated 1908 - 1909, consisting of 96 leaves on the history of Little Hulton.

10 volumes of manuscripts on local townships, manors and subjects made by John Heaton Partington, of Bridgewater Place, St Helens Road, Middle Hulton, Bolton, and presented to the Library in 1912. The works consist essentially of transcripts of title deeds, fines, inquisitions post mortem and other documents relating to particular manors. For the most part the author’s narrative appears on the recto with the notes and references appearing opposite, on the verso of the preceding page.
History of Middle Hulton and some of its inhabitants : A.6.106

Little Hulton, Manor of Worsley : A.6.107
Comprises a history of the area bounded by Farnworth on the North and Tyldesley on the South, and which in modern times is known as Little Hulton, from its earliest period as part of the estate of Irweth de Hulton in the early thirteenth century. The work consists mainly of transcripts of title deeds, extracts from a wide range of archival sources including state papers, relating to the estates of the main land-owning families of the area – the families of De Hulton, De Tyldesley, Fletewood, Morte, Yates, Fletcher, Rigby, and especially Kenyon. There are brief accounts of some visitors to Little Hulton and of the Roman road through Hulton, but the work is very much representative of the antiquarian approach to local history so prevalent at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century and does not extend in terms of coverage beyond the miffle of the 18th century.
