The Society was formed in 1970 for the furtherance, study and preservation of Local History within the area covered by Irlam, Cadishead and District.
Over the years, various publications have been produced by members on a variety of local topics.
A collection of photographs is now available for reference and includes the two photo, surveys carried out in 1973 and 1986.
We also have a series of colour slides which are available for talks plus a small collection of audio tapes recorded by various members which deal with their own lives.
Members meet on the third Wednesday of the month from September through to July (except December) in St Paul's Church at 7-30 pm. where a variety of speakers can be heard on local and allied topics.
In August we are usually at the Irlam Summer Show.

We support local schools and youth groups with any local history enquiries or projects they undertake.
We hold exhibitions promoting ourselves and other local industries and groups in the district.
We are always on the lookout for any old photos, especially school or team photos or any of local streets or local events from the 1960’s onwards.
New members are always welcome.
