Julie Hull:-
Message to all that turned up for the Reunion on 24th May, it was great to see you all!!

I wrote to Peel Hall to ask permission to use the photo on our page and I received this message.

Dear Julie

Nice to hear from you. We are more than happy for you to use the photo of Hulton community School.

Mrs Preston

Thanks to Peel Hall Primary school for letting us use the photo.

Shame on you! How could you miss me out of your list of teachers. Mike
Moore - king of maths / careers and computing!

I have been there the longest you know! Although I did have two years off to
work for a teachers' union.

Actually Mrs Steele, Mr Johns, Mr Ogg, Mr Dunnington and myself must be
clocking up about 150 years between us.

Several other staff have been there for a long time too - Mr McGinty to name
several.

Sadly Mr Hunt and Mr Thompson are no longer alive nor is Mr Shuker who was
head of maths until about 1973.

Mr Edge is still living in Walkden though and spouts a very distinguished
moustache.

Mrs Porter is now a head in Bolton
Mr Scruton is a head in Bury
Mr Jeffries is also a headteacher in Bolton

Well done with the site.

Before I retire in the next year or two I would like to gather together as
many bits of memorabilia of Little Hulton as possible. Anyone with any
photos / memories etc (including school books) I would be gald to receive at
school or via my email address - mmoore@supanet.com

Hi Julie

Just come across the site. Teacher survivors of 1982 still in the trenches at Harrop Fold are: Mr Dunnington, Mr Johns, Mr Moore, Mr Vincent, Mrs Steele, and me! I have fond memories of the days of Hulton by whatever name and hope the site generates the interest it deserves.

Yours
Allen Ogg

Hi,
Thanks for the e-mail, I worked at the Longshaw site for a while in the canteen
and was strange at 38 to see so many teachers still there. I will be trying to
arrange a reunion of anyone who went to Hulton High, so I will be in touch if I
get anything organised. Keep up the good work!!!

Hi JulieJust stumbled on your site.I was at Hulton County, as it was called, from 1957 to 1958, then I moved to Worsley Secondary Tech. One teacher I recall was Miss Howarth. After school I joined the RAF and was selected to escort Winston Churchill's coffin in 1965. My parents were chuffed to see their son on the telly and in all the papers. Retired now living in Lincolnshire. My sister Gwen also attended from 1956 to 1961. Keep up the good work

If anyone would like to get in touch with Dave, please email the site with your contact details and I will pass them on to him, thanks Julie

Hello Julie,

Just came across this site and thought I'd drop you a quick email to say hello. It's been a very long time since I saw anyone since leaving school in 82. I now live in Leigh and Married with 2 beautiful daughters 14 and nearly 17.

I'm currently working in Piccadilly Manchester for Pipex as their Hosting and operations manager. Since leaving school I've also worked and managed all the Hosting and IT infrastructure for Moneysupermarket.com, Autotrader, Wordlonline, Tiscali and Netservices.

As you can see my email's from letsmovehouse.com, my own little venture, which hopefully will make millions :)
Great to see so many names on this list. Would be nice to hear from those who still remember me.

Kind regards,
Clem.

If anyone would like to contact Clement then please email me your details and I will forward them on for you, thanks Julie

Dear Friends

After all these years I have only just learnt of the Friends of Hulton High. I was a teacher there between 1977 and 1985 with a year off in 1982/3 when I swopped jobs with an American teacher named Connie Dominguez from New Mexico. That was one of the best years of my life, no disrespect to Hulton.

I taught geography and history and was a regular teacher with Jenny Rhodes as my Head of Dept. I left in 1985 to take up a post in Cumbria at Witherslack Hall Special Needs School for boys. I took early retirement from there in 1983 and am now a full time writer of walking guides and western novels. I also have a regular walking feature in my local paper, the Lancaster Guardian and compile crossword puzzles for the Countryman's Weekly newspaper.

Other teachers not on your list that were there in my day were Alwin Heaton, Gary Kirkley, Kath Salt, Ken Edge, Elizabeth Mulliner and headmaster Mr. Fisher who followed Mr. Clark when he retired. I was a classromm teacher in Neil Scruton's year and often took boys and girls hiking in the Lake District at weekends.

I hope this is of some help.

Best wishes

Graham Dugdale

hi julie

I have just been lookin at the site of hulton high from the link found on your friends reunited profile.

I read through the list of teachers and here are a few I remember that are not on the list. (I left May 79)

Mr Furse
Mr Carroll
Mr Hodgson
Mr Tebay
Mrs Ogden
Mrs Whaddington
Mr Thompson
Mr Edge
and Mr Birmingham also thik there was a Mrs Pemberton? Home Economics

Mr Hodgson and Mr Edge were my english and R.E teachers, but funnily enough they both also taught my mum (Jean Kennedy) who was one of the first pupils at Hulton County as it was then known. She used to live in Ivy Grove off Peel Park Cres, and used to have to go to Birch Road as that was the nearest available high school until hulton county was finished, to which she then transferred.

I have fond memories of our leavin party in 1979, with Judith Ashall, Beryl Gray, Gail George, Debra Griffiths, dancing to Tiger Feet by Mud and all the other songs of the time, but in particular I will remember the dance done by the members of some of the male staff.

Mr Johns, Mr Jeffries, Mr Dunnington and Mr Carroll all dressed in t-shirts, football shorts and wellington boots, with tennis raquets and cricket bats for guitars tryin to keep their steps in time with each other to the tune of 2,4,6,8 Motorway, by the Tom Robinson Band. It was really funny and something I shall always remember of my school days.

I married Bernard Trent, who left Hulton High in 1974 the year I started. He remembers being if not the only person, then one of the very few to get Mr Johns down in a rugby tackle. (not sure if Mr Johns will remember this lol.

Comin up to the nearer future as the school amalgamated with Joseph Eastham, Mr Johns and Mr Vincent both had the pleasure (if you can call it that) of teaching my son Mark Trent. who left just over 2 years ago.

I still see a few of the people I went to school with as I work at Tesco Petrol station, Julie Farmer, Peter Johnson, Gordon Parkin, Sue Hoben, Carol Horrocks, Jackie Smith, Andrew Johnson, James King, Alan Walker, Debby Shepherd, Nicky Morris, Ian Bertwistle, Sue Elliot, Gail George and Debra Griffiths to name but a few of the pupils. Mr johns, Mr Tebay, Mr Carroll, Mrs Taylor and I think a Mrs Pemberton? a few of the teachers.

I am at present rumaging through both mine and mums photos to find all I can from both Hulton High and Peel Hall schools as soon as I find them all I will pass on to julie for posting on this site, so keep watching.

If anyone would like to get in touch julie has my email addy and will pass it on, would love to hear from you.

Hi Julie,

You shoud remember me - Mandy Foster? How are you, you havent really changed - well apart from your photo of 1977 (ha)

Was at Hulton HIgh with you and also remember coming to your house a couple of times - OMG them were the days werent they. Just been looking around on Facebook and come across your website - its brilliant - well done.

Cant believe all the people and teachers who are on there who I remember - Clem, Catherine Thomas, Shirley Potts, Mr Kirkley (and his guitar!), Mrs Ashworth (god I was scared too death of her for all my five years - and dont think she was too happy that I was a prefect!), Mr Johns and Mr Jefferies (both my favourite teachers) - the list is too long to carry on.

Going to go back on the website now and carry on reading all the clips of info people have put on.

Once again - well done x
