Welcome to Friends of Irlam and Cadishead Parks

The friends of Irlam and Cadishead Parks are a voluntary community group that was established in 2002. We are a group of local people who are committed to improving our parks for the benefit of local people.
In 2002 Irlam and Cadishead Community Committee in conjuction with Salford City Council funded a project to revitalize the parks of the area. Community Technical Aid Centre (CTAC), was appointed to lead the project. Consultations meeting were held within the district to which local organisations and residents were invited. From these meetings an action plan was formulated.
We are a group of "local People" who have set up a "Friends of Parks" committee to try and improve our parks for the "local people".
We have the benefit in this area of 3 Parks, Princes' Park in Irlam, Cadishead Park, and Cadishead Recreation Centre. At present the parks are being used for a wide range of activities such as football, rugby, bowls and fishing, but one of the most important reasons that Parks exist is that they should be places where "everyone" should be able to go and enjoy themselves.
So why don't people use them?
There are obvious reasons, such as lack of toilet facilities, vandalism, dogs fouling the grass and so on, but these problems can be overcome, and thats where we intend to start improving things!! We also have the full backing of City of Salford Council, and the possiblilty of funding to help us achieve our goals!!
