The Eccles & District History Society is one of the longest-established local history societies in the North West of England.
Read about its history and aims on our History of the Society page.
The Society is for anyone with an interest in local history, especially that of the Eccles, Swinton and Worsley areas.
We meet monthly at Alexandra House, Liverpool Road, Peel Green. Excursions, walks and visits to places of interest are also arranged.

To join - just turn up at one of our meetings.
Annual subscription is £7.00.
If you’d like to “try before you buy” or would simply like to come along to one particular meeting then you are most welcome.
The visitor’s fee is £2.00.
You will find that meetings are informal and friendly.
Most meetings take the form of a talk by a guest speaker: please see our Programme for details.
The Society has been carrying out a digital history project as from 2008, thanks to a grant from Awards for All.

For information about the history of Eccles see our sister website Memories of Eccles.

If you have any enquiry about the history of Eccles then we will try and help, but the most appropriate contact is most likely to be Salford Local History Library, where the Eccles collection is held.
